I was inspired to put my sentiments on print after I was given a link by one of my lovely goddess-in-training.

It was a beautiful post written by Paulo Coelho about dancing accompanied by a very wonderful video (Maurice Bejart- bolero de ravel) which was haunting and hypnotic in its simplicity.

He has very succinctly described my feelings towards dancing and why I am immensely and everlastingly drawn to it.

It is the most basic primal instinct in us all, to move. And I think when you give in to that yearning, you give in to life.

You start to live.

You breath a little harder, you acutely feel all the bodily sensations and you embrace the elevated sense of high you feel inside.

You start to live.

You allow the music to be absorbed, into every fiber of your being. You sense the love, the tension and the explosion inside.

You start to live.

You begin to be in love again. In love with yourself. In love with Mother Earth. In love with the universe. In love with fellow beings.

My latest pride and joy!

It was so tedious preparing the contents for www.joyleng.com for the last two weeks and I really wanted to cry with helplessness when digging out the contents from my hard drives. How does one select which lucky pictures from the thousands that you own that should grace www.joyleng.com? The sheer amount of work that went into selecting and editing were tortorous. I was encountered with the same dilemma for testimonials. What makes one testimonial better than another when all came from the heart? Oh god!!!!

At least it was not all pain and no pleasure, I was transported back to so many happy places and meaningful people who emerged from the shadows of my past to give me once again the warmth of friendship and enlightenment.

What a life you have lived Joy, what a life.

This was a really fun photo shoot and to wear a wig is even for me, a daring adventure. But I promised myself to step out of my comfort zone and to experience discomfort in the name of growth. Thank goddess I was richly rewarded! I absolutely adored this Lady Gaga inspired shoot and I hope you are having as much fun viewing the end product as I had creating it.

As my sister has remarked, I look so unreal and I loved it! Hehe….

Life has officially gone topsy turvy. As my sister has remarked, everything in my life is at its maximum speed now and all I can do is to buckle up and brace myself for the crazy rollacoaster that has already started.

What do you do when life decides to have a little fun with you and to give you the ride of your life?

You run with it! That is exactly what I am doing. Not that it does not have its negative repercussions. The ying and the yang in life.

You have to search within your heart, what is it calling for you to do?

Mother Teresa led such a beautiful life. We are all awed struck by her unselflessness. Yet, few of us might realise that because of the choices she made, she has also given up the bliss of knowing other forms of joy. She found her peace in suffering with others. We all make choices that will seem natural to some and incorrigible to others. But does that matter at the end of the day? What really matters at the end of the day?

I think the answer varies for each individual. As topsy turvy as my life is, it has also never been better. I have grown with life and I am able to come to terms with certain things and I still want to make a difference. I still believe in what I do. In fact, more than ever, the hunger grows stronger within, the flame burns brighter.

I want to combine all my gifts and give it to the women in the world. I want to pass it on in my own ways. I am attracting the right people and right resources in my life. It is truly amazing and I am deeply thankful. I must persist and I must breath my last knowing that I have done my best.

As topsy turvy your world might be, hang in there and know you are not alone. Together, we will make a difference by what we do. Everyone counts and every effort matters. Please do your part to make the world a better place. And I pledged to be relentless in my own mission.

Saw my birthday blog post from last year. Many sentiments have remained the same. Except that the sense of self has grown. I no longer have anything to prove. And that is awesome. I am happy with myself, with all that I am, all that I have done and all that I will be. Birthdays are such beautiful occasions. It gives you a chance to pause and meditate on all that have come to pass. Everyday, we get ‘caught up’ in the never-ending busy-ness of life and birthdays give you the chance to breath a little, to think a little, to shed a little tear and to smile a little at all the could have, would have, should have and had.

I honestly do feel deeply blessed and greatly loved. I now own the most beautiful SensUal Joy studio ever. This is my greatest pride to date. And it came in time for my birthday this year. My family has surprised me with their explicit love and support. I feel touched and honoured by it. I went back to modeling and pushed the envelope with boudoir photography and have grown so much as a person because of it. I have also passed my first year literature exam with the University of London. That squashed two years of angst and self doubt at my literary abilities. LOL.

What more could I ask for in life?

Nothing.

Just the desire to strive further. Not to prove anything, but to make a difference in my own way.

What a crazy one month.

What an amazing journey.

Photoshoots, renovation, packing, unpacking, yada, yada.

Fighting fire every single day.

I feel utterly exhausted.

And yet, when the results seep in little by little, I find myself in gasps of awe and astonishment.

Tough shit, but such an incredible experience.

I sincerely find my new studio god damn sexy.

Holy cow, I think I have pulled it off and I think sexy has only just began…

Wow. What a show. One wonders what took me so long to watch a blessed thing like this. It is absolutely lovely and puts many modern movies to shame as far as I’m concerned. There is an element of decadent redundance, charming confusion and meaningful nothingness about it. She is truly a class act but so awfully thin.

The upstairs neighbour is a comical character who is such a delight for me. And I love the little nuances cleverly added in by the director. The unnamed cat seems to parallel with Holly’s identity or rather lack of it. I was peeved when she kicked the poor cat out into the pouring rain and she only redeemed herself for me and many other viewers I would imagine, when she suitably braved the downpour to rescue the poor thing.

I cannot exactly pinpoint the attraction the movie holds for me but it is a great show that I have enjoyed way more than many I have seen to date.

Ohhhh darling, you simply must watch this.

What a wonderful show! It is so heart warming. To be honest, during the first 10 minutes, I thought it was going to be a boring movie. And then slowly but surely, it starts to grow on you. It only begin to perk my interest and demand my absolute attention when more dogs came into the pictures and as the plot slowly begins to unfold its more interesting aspects. The beginning could seriously be improved on. There are parts when it feels a bit too watery but it quickly regains my favour with its creativity. There is such ingenuity in the props and machinations created to make it an efficient operation to look after the dogs’ welfare.

Still of course, there are various part when it seems really too incredulous. Nevertheless, it manages to touch my heart with its simplicity theme embedded at the core of it all. And of course, the fact that I owe a dog myself who is my real mistress might have earned the movie some sympathy points. In summary, a lovely easy to digest movie for all dog lovers.

Well what can I say? Utterly boring. I was, to say the least, hugely disappointed. After all the hooha and all the controversy surrounding it, can you blame me for having expectations?! The words and descriptions are draggy and come across as pretty much strained. I feel there were many awkward gaps in the plot and I cannot always follow exactly how are the protagonists feeling. Overall, I feel tedious going through the descriptions that does not really shed much light to me into their inner psyche. Perhaps it is indeed a trying task for a male writer of his time to try and add more depth and intensity to the romance of a novel? I applaud his effort which have spin off much but it certainly won’t alter the fact that it simply doesn’t do the job for me. The novel only redeemed itself a little after I saw the movie adaptation because it was worse. I think it’s time to turn to good old Avon Red. What must a woman do to get her desired dose of mental romantic thrill?

That is pretty much how I feel these days. Literature has a way of making your life feel surreal and fairy like. The amount of time spent voyaging in your mental world… Even Harry Potter can become more real a friend than my dad! Still, in some ways, what a decadent way to ‘school’! After a while, you feel as if there is nothing much in life that matters to you that you have NOT yet examine to exhaustion. Naturally, that is an illusion. The more you dig, the more you realised you have yet to dig. Literature is like a pandora box. The fun is in its never ending-ness. Or is it?

Still, the bottomless pit is most taxing and most vexing during the exam period. My mugging episode was thoroughly stressful. With a 12 years absence from the dreaded E, the amount of stress it generated came as a tumultuous shock to my system. You start to miss civilization and you yearn for a laugh with a friend, a smirk at that ugly toad at the next table while all that is next to me is my faithful but boring printer and the dead but never quite dead enough Shakespeare’s face pasted on the front of yet another nightmarish text lying on a heap on my table.

Now that E is over (YESSSS!!!!), one ponders on the number of ways to waste away when the fairy lights come on once again. Next 2 units (Renaissance Comedy and Approaches to Text) are tougher and more challenging, hmm… you sure you wanna do the ‘waste away’ part? Haiz.

So here I am, a grumpy fairy who has decided to be prudent and to start early on the never ending -isms and -logies who will be the heartless mistresses next in line to laugh mercilessly at my toiling for their sadistic pleasure.

Live a life. Be a fairy. Learn literature.

It was a wonderful treat from the torture of incessant mugging for my exams. And the most perfect excuse for this indulgence is that Tempest is one of my exam text!

I thought the play started very cleverly with the opening of the two doors to reveal the casts. It instantly gave much hints that it will be a rather modern interpretation of the play. Comedic moments were generous sprinkled in the various acts with the antics of Stephano, Trincuolo and Caliban adding much to the formula.

The atmosphere was nicely done with sand, water, fire and lights being the pivotal instruments. The singing scored big points with me. It was most magical and lucid. The singers’ voices were hauntingly beautiful.

There is a relative degree of realism with the exception of the first scene which consisted of artful choreography with crisp and agile movements by the actors. Various props were employed and I thought the fire scene was an absolute delight. My favorite prop must be Ariel’s wings! It was majestic, intricately designed and massive enough to make an impressive impact.

Overall, it was a very commendable performance by the actors and I most certainly enjoyed myself better in this production than the one they did last year. I hope you did not missed it out!

In silence, with my comforting floral friends.
But I think, heavens have decided to give me showers of blessings instead.

I sobbed like a baby. When was the last thing I teared so bad watching a movie? I cannot remember. This show is heart wrenching. If you have been going on like a frantic rat on a treadmill, this is just the antidote to stop you on your track and get you straighten up again.

It is a story about the 40 years of romance John had with a most brilliant English novelist, Dame Iris Murdoch. She was a highly spirited individual, passionate and spontaneous about life. She twirled many a men round her fingers. John who eventually won her over was not as spectacular a figure as Iris was. He was not larger than life, just a typical scholar character but who has many loving and gentle ways about him that will grow on you as you watched the movie developed. His charm is of a more subtle sort.

Then the unthinkable happened. Iris started to have difficulty in remember words and in writing. It turns out that her mind was slowly but surely being ravaged by the devastating efforts of Alzheimer. The prolific genius was reduced one totally incapable of speech.

John continued to adore Iris and care for her in the best way that he could. But he himself was not getting young either and have his own getting old symptoms to deal with. The heart just feel deep tugs of pain when I see how both struggled with their own and each other issues. They stayed together. They sticked together. Irregardless.

Brilliant. Brilliant. Brilliant.

Please do yourself a favor and watch this story. It reminded me of what is most important at the end of the day. At the end of my life. Not exactly all my fantastical achievements. It is really who is nearest and dearest to you.
