Lady Chatterley’s Lover by D.H.Lawrence

Well what can I say? Utterly boring. I was, to say the least, hugely disappointed. After all the hooha and all the controversy surrounding it, can you blame me for having expectations?! The words and descriptions are draggy and come across as pretty much strained. I feel there were many awkward gaps in the plot and I cannot always follow exactly how are the protagonists feeling. Overall, I feel tedious going through the descriptions that does not really shed much light to me into their inner psyche. Perhaps it is indeed a trying task for a male writer of his time to try and add more depth and intensity to the romance of a novel? I applaud his effort which have spin off much but it certainly won’t alter the fact that it simply doesn’t do the job for me. The novel only redeemed itself a little after I saw the movie adaptation because it was worse. I think it’s time to turn to good old Avon Red. What must a woman do to get her desired dose of mental romantic thrill?
