Iris by Judi Dench and Kate Winslate

I sobbed like a baby. When was the last thing I teared so bad watching a movie? I cannot remember. This show is heart wrenching. If you have been going on like a frantic rat on a treadmill, this is just the antidote to stop you on your track and get you straighten up again.

It is a story about the 40 years of romance John had with a most brilliant English novelist, Dame Iris Murdoch. She was a highly spirited individual, passionate and spontaneous about life. She twirled many a men round her fingers. John who eventually won her over was not as spectacular a figure as Iris was. He was not larger than life, just a typical scholar character but who has many loving and gentle ways about him that will grow on you as you watched the movie developed. His charm is of a more subtle sort.

Then the unthinkable happened. Iris started to have difficulty in remember words and in writing. It turns out that her mind was slowly but surely being ravaged by the devastating efforts of Alzheimer. The prolific genius was reduced one totally incapable of speech.

John continued to adore Iris and care for her in the best way that he could. But he himself was not getting young either and have his own getting old symptoms to deal with. The heart just feel deep tugs of pain when I see how both struggled with their own and each other issues. They stayed together. They sticked together. Irregardless.

Brilliant. Brilliant. Brilliant.

Please do yourself a favor and watch this story. It reminded me of what is most important at the end of the day. At the end of my life. Not exactly all my fantastical achievements. It is really who is nearest and dearest to you.

The show that is taking the movie theaters by storm now. I remembered watching Sex And The City two years ago in Melbourne. I was alone on my usual ” I need to get out!” trip. I chanced upon the hotel library and was absolutely thrilled to see the four magic words in some boxes hidden at the corner.

I have always watched to watch Sex And The City. It was one of those things that “I never got round to it” for me. Excited, I basically spent the next two nights replacing beauty sleep with crazy episodes of women talking, whining and making love to men.

I was completely hooked! And I spent my day tours on the coach, blissfully asleep. Haha! I can never forget. And of course like the rest of the world (most of it I think), I can’t wait for the movie to arrive! I am very amused to learn that even men loved it.

Women love it because we can relate to the experiences of the four leading actresses, in particular their pain. But I still cannot comprehend what is the attraction for men.

And it was quite amusing to me to be able to discuss the details of the drama serial with men and they could contribute intelligently and with a fair amount of content and opinion I must say! What a crazy world!

Even though I was on a plane when I saw this movie, it still didn’t stop the tears from forming in my eyes. It is a very beautiful show. And I tell you, Gerald Butler just stole my heart with it. He is so CUTE! Gosh! *drool*

The scenes were so true to real life. I believe many women will be able to relate to it. I was pleasantly surprised to find out from a guy friend he loved it too! So you see, this movie is a must watch! It is a wonderful love story that demonstrates how even death cannot triumph over love.

If the same situation were to happened to me in real life and I am the female lead, I would certainly be much more ready to carry on with my life because I have tasted love in its highest form. Also, I can live life with confidence from here knowing that I have the fullest blessings from my husband.

Hillary Swank did an incredible job too. She was always real. Awkward sometimes when the scenes require it and hence authentic and really adorable too. I thought it was very cool to have a funeral like that where everyone had to take a tequila shot. Haha.

And that scene when he attempted a clumsy attempt in seducing the wife with his dance. Totally hilarious! Oh, and when he told her to “shut up bitch and just kiss me” was such a classic demonstration of “Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus“!!

So many scenes just clenched my heart at moments.

• When Holly came back from the funeral, stripped, and simply slide into bed when repeatedly listening to Jerry’s voice mail.
• The one when she mistakenly and so naturally called Daniel Jerry. Ouch!
• When Jerry bet $100 that Holly will never go get on stage to sing and Holly ended up in hospital with a broken nose because of it.
• When Holly tells Daniel that women doesn’t really know what they want.
• When Jerry and Holly kissed for the very first time.
• When Patricia gave Holly her last letter. When Holly and Daniel kissed at the stadium.

Love Program

You, simply, have to watch this one! It reminded me to cherish and to love. It might do some magic to you too.
